2012: What's in a Number?

That numbers have mysterious powers has been known for a long, long time. All of the esoteric teachings are drenched in numbers--consider the Kabbalah, the Tarot, the Book of Revelation, the I Ching, Pythagoras, the Egyptian mysteries, secret codes in the Bible and the Koran and many other ancient sciences of consciousness. Numbers are not just for counting; numbers are codes that reveal information that cannot be transmitted in any other way.

The mysterious and mystical Mayans played with numbers, too, and engraved a fourth-dimensional science of numbers in the language of a calendar carved in stone. We only decoded their notations in the 1950s, some 1300 years after the zenith of their civilization. The beginning date of the Mayan calendar is the year 3113 B.C. and the end date when their count stops is the year 2012-why that's just around the corner.

What does this all mean? There are plenty of theories out there, but I will use the writings and teachings of Jose Arguelles as my source and recommend to the curious his body of work in print and on the Internet. Jose explains that 2012 is the end of the "cycle of history," and July 26, 2013 is the formal beginning of a new great epoch that will re-integrate our misguided planet into the harmonic whole of the Milky Way galaxy and beyond.

So when people ask the question, "Is 2012 the end of the world?" in a sense the answer is yes. It is the end of the illusion of a world separate from cosmic wholeness, a world governed through domination of nature, and a world in which power derives from fear. In other words the world you and I see reflected in all the news that attacks us daily. I am here to inform you that serious people claim this reality will end in a few years.

I know what you are thinking. You are thinking we just entered the Twilight Zone...do do do do do. How could we be this close to an event as mind boggling as a planetary acid trip back to the Source and still appear mired down in the degraded world of ordinary reality? I ask myself the same question all the time. I have been aware of the prophecy contained in the Mayan codes for 20 years (Harmonic Convergence 1987) and also been tracking other prophetic streams (Native American, Hindu, Christian, Jewish, Tibetan, Aboriginal etc.) for corollary information.

One theme most of these sources agree on is the requirement that humans make free will choices. In other words, in order to break free from the cycle of history into cosmic consciousness, we have to choose. There are many ways that this choosing is evidenced; it does not have to be an intellectual understanding of what is going on. It can simply be placing love and sharing and forgiveness in the center of your value system and letting these forces guide you.

This basic teaching is at the heart of all religious traditions, so what makes it different now? At this turning point time many, many great beings have re-incarnated among us so our efforts are being amplified by powerful, loving humans. Their energy is gradually penetrating the entire field of human activity-look for the signs in your personal life and beyond.

The perspective offered in the Mayan calendar is of a turning point when everything contained in the past will also be present, redeeming all of history. It is a natural phenomenon of galactic cycles that are vast, placing our Earth's tiny cycle of historical time in a huge context.

If you want to bring in the power of the knowledge embedded in the Mayan codes, you can add a practice to your life that will accelerate your ability to navigate these next few years. You can join the Mayan count of days and create your own timeship, the Synchronicity Express. The premise is extremely simple (and the amplification infinitely complex). The Mayan system makes 13 the base number of months (moons) instead of 12 and keeps the 7 day week. We have 13 Moons of 28 days (four 7-day weeks) which adds up to 364 and we add a "Day Out of Time" to create the 365-day solar year.

When you keep that calendar, you join the lunar cycle (13 full moons per solar year) and the feminine cycle (13 ovulations per year) and you begin the re-entrainment into the cosmic rhythm that is the destiny of this planet. Your human free will choice to work with time in this manner will resonate in the mind field of the fourth dimension. You will begin having telepathic experiences and they will only increase as will the benevolent synchronicities. The number 13 will be your guidepost because it is the master number that generates all the other numbers.

The patterns that come out of the number 13 are spirals, the source of the energy dynamos of all physical creation. When you play with the number 13 you are beginning to navigate in the realm that precedes the physical dimension and that is the realm we will be taken to in 2013, Galactic Synchronization, what Arguelles describes as the Second Creation.

Don't despair when you read the news and the political ranting. Find your practice of compassion and keep it; investigate the natural time calendar of 13 Moons (www.13moon.com) and let synchronicity illuminate your path. That way when 2012-2013 comes around you'll be ahead of your time!

Mysterious Crop Circle in Switzerland

Corcelles-près-Payerne, Suisse - July 10. 2007 - A Swiss army pilot discovers a perfect geometric figure inscribed in a corn field at Corcelles-près-Payerne, raising questions about how it got there.

Locals in Payerne in the northern part of Vaud are scratching their heads after the discovery of a corn field where the crop has been flattened in a round shape 60 metres wide. The farmer who owns the field said he does not know who did the design and he is just as puzzled as others as to how it got there.

François Blanchoud, a Swiss army pilot, first spotted the crop circle, in the field near Payerne's military airport, while flying over the Broye region this week. Surprised by the appearance of the geometric figure, he asked his father Pierre, a specialist in unexplained phenomena, to accompany him on another flight to take photographs of it.

His father claims the crop circle is “authentic,” meaning no-one can say who made it. “The work is huge," he said."It is not humanly possible." Pierre Blanchoud said the design is too precise to have been the result of heavy rain and "it is not in the interest of the farmer to flatten the corn."

Pierre Blanchoud said about 20 percent of phenomena initially thought to be crop circles turn out to be made by humans. He claims the others are the result of "light balls" that produce micro- waves, which heat the corn and flatten the stalks. Crop circle enthusiasts, known as cereologists, have offered various paranormal and naturalistic explanations for them. However, in England two men revealed a few years ago that they created a variety of crop circles using planks, rope, hats and wire as their only tools.

The owner of the 7.5-hectare field containing the crop circle in Payerne said he will harvest the corn in 10 days. But the circle is expected to remain after the harvest as the flattened corn will not be collected.

Is Randolph College Haunted?

Lynchburg, VA - July 10, 2007 - While it may have a new name, some say there are a few old spirits still lurking around the former Randolph-Macon Woman's College campus.

A bevy of ghost hunters paid a visit over the weekend, and they seemed to encounter some strange circumstances.

Their quest began in the basement of the library. Ghost hunter John James turned out the lights and set up his video camera. They returned 45 minutes later to find his two-hour tape completely used up. James was also nearly hit by a flying object. "I know it hit the metal. I heard it hit metal as I walked by," says James.

Just a little bit after midnight, the group reached Webb dormitory. According to some of the students, the dormitory is a hot spot for activity on campus. While in the building, two doors closed unexpectedly on one of the researchers. Two other people in the group also reported feeling something.

"He went into the room, then we were standing outside of the room. All of a sudden it was just like, it felt like hot energy. I don't think I've ever experienced anything like that in my life," says Kate Descoteaux.

So what do the slamming doors, dead batteries, and hot blasts of air art Randolph College mean?

"I think maybe they have something going on. A few doors have slammed, a couple of interesting meter readings, and some interesting stories, so it would be worth coming back again," says Terry Howell, Central Virginia Paranormal Research.

Orange UFO Lights Up Skies Over Cheshunt, UK

Cheshunt, UK - July 6, 2007 - An orange ball and lights in the sky has left a Cheshunt man wondering if aliens really do exist.

Paul Adams, 52, snapped these strange shots and is now appealing for anyone else who saw or can identify the potentially paranormal activity to come forward.

His friends have suggested extraterrestrials could be behind the drama although Paul, of Pengelly Close, is slightly more sceptical.

Paul had been watching films at about 3am on Wednesday last week when he decided to go outside for a cigarette.

"I saw this orange ball that got bigger," he recounted.

"Within five seconds, it's right over the top of the house. Three lines went straight up but there was no noise. It lit the sky up.

"I've gone to take another photo on my phone and it's gone."

Paul added: "I did think this is gorgeous. It was beautiful, really nice.

"But it was very strange. I've never seen anything like that. It wasn't lightning and it wasn't fireworks."

So do these photos show an alien spacecraft looking to land in the Lee Valley?

"My mates had a good laugh and said it could be a UFO," said Paul.

"However I believe in my daughter and I believe in my wife and that's about it."

Amazon Monster Terrifies Villagers

RIO BRANCO, Brazil (July 8) -- Perhaps it is nothing more than a legend, as skeptics say. Or maybe it is real, as those who claim to have seen it avow. But the mere mention of the mapinguary, the giant slothlike monster of the Amazon, is enough to send shivers down the spines of almost all who dwell in the world’s largest rain forest.

The folklore here is full of tales of encounters with the creature, and nearly every Indian tribe in the Amazon, including those that have had no contact with one another, have a word for the mapinguary (pronounced ma-ping-wahr-EE). The name is usually translated as “the roaring animal” or “the fetid beast.”

So widespread and so consistent are such accounts that in recent years a few scientists have organized expeditions to try to find the creature. They have not succeeded, but at least one says he can explain the beast and its origins.

“It is quite clear to me that the legend of the mapinguary is based on human contact with the last of the ground sloths,” thousands of years ago, said David Oren, a former director of research at the Goeldi Institute in Belém, at the mouth of the Amazon River. “We know that extinct species can survive as legends for hundreds of years. But whether such an animal still exists or not is another question, one we can’t answer yet.”

Dr. Oren said he had talked to “a couple of hundred people” who had said they had seen the mapinguary in the most remote parts of the Amazon and a handful who had said they had had direct contact.

In some areas, the creature is said to have two eyes, while in other accounts it has only one, like the Cyclops of Greek mythology. Some tell of a gaping, stinking mouth in the monster’s belly through which it consumes humans unfortunate enough to cross its path.

But all accounts agree that the creature is tall, seven feet or more when it stands on two legs, that it emits a strong, extremely disagreeable odor, and that it has thick, matted fur, which covers a carapace that makes it all but impervious to bullets and arrows.

“The only way you can kill a mapinguary is by shooting at its head,” said Domingos Parintintin, a tribal leader in Amazonas State. “But that is hard to do because it has the power to make you dizzy and turn day into night. So the best thing to do if you see one is climb a tree and hide.”

Geovaldo Karitiana, 27, a member of the Karitiana tribe, claims to have seen one about three years ago, as he was hunting in the jungle near an area that his tribe calls “the cave of the mapinguary.”

“It was coming toward the village and was making a big noise,” he said in a recent interview on the tribe’s reservation in the western Amazon. “It stopped when it got near me, and that’s when the bad smell made me dizzy and tired. I fainted, and when I came to, the mapinguary was gone.”

Mr. Karitiana’s father, Lucas, confirmed his son’s account. He said that when his son took him back to the site of the encounter, he saw a cleared pathway where the creature had departed, “as if a boulder had rolled through and knocked down all the trees and vines.”

Though the descriptions of the mapinguary may resemble the sasquatch of North America or the yeti of Himalayan lore, the comparisons stop there. Unlike its counterparts in the Northern Hemisphere, the creature is said not to flee human contact, but to aggressively hunt down the hunter, turning the tables on those who do not respect the jungle’s unwritten rules and limits.

“Often, the mapinguary gets revenge on people who transgress, who go where they shouldn’t go or harvest more animals or plants than they can consume, or set cruel traps,” said Márcio Souza, a prominent Brazilian novelist and playwright who lives in Manaus, in the central Amazon, and often draws on Amazon history and folklore in his works.

Amazon folklore, in fact, is full of fanciful creatures that are used to explain unwelcome or embarrassing phenomena. The boto, for example, is a type of dolphin that is said to be able to transform itself into human form, wearing a white hat to cover its air spout, and seducing and impregnating impressionable young virgins.

When a hunter or woodsman gets lost in the jungle, he often blames the curupira, a mischievous red-haired elf who has feet that face backward and takes delight in making trails that lead travelers astray. And when an experienced navigator inexplicably disappears or drowns in calm waters, he is usually said to have fallen victim to the iara, a cross between a siren and a mermaid.

“If you’re a rubber tapper and you’re returning to camp empty-handed, you’d better have a pretty good explanation for your boss,” said Marcos Vinícius Neves, director of the government’s department of historical and cultural patrimony in Acre State, where a statue of a mapinguary has been erected at a public plaza here in the capital. “The mapinguary is the best excuse you could possible imagine.”

Mr. Souza, the writer, counts himself among those who believe the mapinguary is a myth. The deforestation of the Amazon has accelerated so rapidly over the last generation, he argues, that if the creature really existed, “there would have been some sort of close encounter of the third kind by now.”

Partly for that reason, most zoologists scoff at the notion that it could be real.

The giant ground sloth, Megatherium, was once one of the largest mammals to walk the earth, bigger than a modern elephant. Fossil evidence is abundant and widespread, found as far south as Chile and as far north as Florida. But the trail stops cold thousands of years ago.

“When you travel in the Amazon, you are constantly hearing about this animal, especially when you are in contact with indigenous peoples,” said Peter Toledo, an expert on sloths at the Goeldi Institute. “But convincing scientific proof, in the form of even vestiges of bones, blood or excrement, is always lacking.”

Glenn Shepard Jr., an American ethnobiologist and anthropologist based in Manaus, said he was among the skeptics until 1997, when he was doing research about local wildlife among the Machiguenga people of the far western Amazon, in Peru. Tribal members all mentioned a fearsome slothlike creature that inhabited a hilly, forested area in their territory.

Dr. Shepard said “the clincher that really blew me away” came when a member of the tribe remarked matter of factly that he had also seen a mapinguary at the natural history museum in Lima. Dr. Shepard checked; the museum has a diorama with a model of the giant prehistoric ground sloth.

“At the very least, what we have here is an ancient remembrance of a giant sloth, like those found in Chile recently, that humans have come into contact with,” he said. “Let me put it this way: Just because we know that mermaids and sirens are myths doesn’t mean that manatees don’t exist.”

Even so, the mystery of the mapinguary is likely to continue, as is the search.

“There’s still an awful lot of room out there for a large sloth to be roaming around,” Dr. Shepard said.

Remarkable Poltergeist Video

The description from the submitter on this video says merely, "poker set, table, and chairs move when we captured ghost or poltergeist on camera." I have written and asked for more detailed information, specifically how, when, where and why this video was taken. If it's a hoax (which we always have to consider), it's a pretty clever one. If it's real, it's remarkable. buiyah responds: "It was at a friend's house, who claims that she sees things, like a sixth sense. It happened the night before July 4 when we were playing with the Ouija board. I wasnt playing it though. Hell no!"

Ex-Military Man Photographs UFO Over Lake

Interesting report from Piotr Cielebiaś of the NOL-Eastern European UFO Journal, concerning a sighting by retired Lt. Col. Robert G. The following is an adaptation of the original report from the Lt. Colonel and his photographs.

Name: Lt. Col. Robert G. retired (last name withheld at the request of the witness)
Place: Zywieckie Lake, Wojewodztwo Slaskie, Poland
Date: May 22, 2006

It had been a beautiful bright day and now in the early evening Robert decided to give in to his passion of fishing. So he and his son Maciek gathered the rods and supplies and left for their favorite spot on Lake Zywieckie. The lake was nearby and they arrived at 7:20 pm.

He had retired from the military as a Lt. Colonel some time ago and became a passionate fisherman. He considered himself to be 'even keeled' and straight-headed, not prone to panic, over reaction or flights of fantasy. Robert enjoyed his family and friends and was at a great point in his life. All of this was to change and he would never be the same again.

After settling down to fish, Robert unexpectedly decided to experiment with the new digital camera Maciek had received as a gift from his parents for his first communion. He reached into his bag of supplies and took out the camera, then both he and his son began walking along the shore of the lake looking for things to photograph.

Maciek suddenly stopped and asked his father, "Did you hear that?" He admitted to himself: it was very strange sound indeed. It was high pitched, something like a whistle, and not very loud. They followed the sound making their way between shrubs and after traveling only a few meters come to a small beach. There before them was the source of the sound and Robert was stunned!

A huge shining disk, suspended in mid-air, hung over the lake. It reminded him of a flying saucer typically seen on TV.

His first reaction was to run to get away...to escape. He never gave a thought to their fishing equipment or supplies. Grabbing Maciek's hand they began to leave when his son screamed, "Dad, Stop! It is an UFO."

Robert was scared, disorientated, shivers ran down spine and he was covered in cold sweat. He couldn't breathe. He head felt empty and his brain wouldn't function. His heart was pounding madly and he realized he had to calm down, take control. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed the object moving slowly, spinning on its axis like a toy top.

Maciek turned the camera on and asked his father to take a photo. Taking the camera from his son he centered the view finder on the craft and clicked the shutter as it moved slowly to his right. "We'll show Mom," his son exclaimed.

Trance-like, the father, continued to take photos. The world was gone - only the object remained. The flying saucer had stopped maneuvering and was swinging side to side, its movements reminding Robert of a leaf floating in the air. A thought now crossed Robert's confused mind: Good God, Aliens don't exist! Just then the craft vanished. Robert hurriedly searched the sky, but there was no sign of the craft.

It was then, only then, after the craft had disappeared that Robert discovered he had wandered in the water taking pictures. He noticed people on the opposite bank and wanted to call to them...but didn't. He knew how people reacted to stories of UFOs and didn't want to become the brunt of one their jokes.

Looking at the camera he was amazed to discover that the camera's memory was completely filled and realized he had continued taking photos of the lake and the sky long after the craft had gone. He didn't actually remember taking the shots, just knew that he did.

Mentally exhausted he sat down on a tree trunk with his son and asked, "Maciek, what was it?" Gesturing with his arms to describe the object he replied, "UFO, I just said it! Let's quickly go home and tell Mom about it." We packed up the poles and gear and went home.

Maciek described the entire experience to his mother, giving her all the details. Robert, camera in hand, walked down to a friend's house that had a computer and could download the photos. Robert was happy that his friend and neighbor was so understanding. He asked if he had actually witnessed the object and then Robert told him the entire story. His friend stated that some people took this phenomenon seriously and suggested that he contact someone familiar with the subject. But, first he had to write down his recollections of the event and it is these that allow me to write his story.
