The Hunt for Bigfoot: Special Report From Wisconsin
Milwaukee, Wisconsin - May 16, 2007 - A myth...A legend - or does a creature that's not human ...And not animal... Walk this earth?
One group is scouring the nation to prove this creature exists. And it could be here in Wisconsin.
That quest brings a research group to Wisconsin for a second time to check out area sightings dating back years. We rode along with "Searching for Bigfoot."
A dark stretch of road in Walworth County -- does "The Beast of Bray Road, really exist?
Witnesses recount their sightings. "It looked like a cross between a bear and a wolf," one man tells us. He saw the beast near Holy Hill last November.
More sightings at a wildlife area in Southeastern Wisconsin. "My hair stood on end and we took off," the witness recalls.
And on a well-traveled road in Rock County in broad daylight: "He stood up on two legs, and I knew it wasn't a deer."
Stacie and Lenny Faytus take us back to the spot where they believe they saw Bigfoot...two years ago.
A tall, hairy creature crossing this 20 foot road -- in just two steps. They swear by their eyes. "I would say there is Bigfoot. He exists. He's out there."
Tom Biscardi believes too. He's been tracking Bigfoot for 34 years. "I won't rest until I bring one of them back," he told us. It's his passion. He travels the country with his team called "Searching for Bigfoot."
Biscardi says he used to question the story. "I didn't believe in this thing. I thought it all rubbish, a myth, legend but then I had an encounter and over the last 34 years I've had six encounters."
And Biscardi thinks he has the evidence to prove that Bigfoot lives.
He shows us a hand of unknown origin. "It came back nothing on record. Wasn't a primate, wasn't a bear and it wasn't human. So what is it?" he asks.
He also has a plaster cast of a very large footprint.. one of many in Biscardi's collection.
At the Lima Marsh Wildlife Area in Rock County-- is there a creature there? "Searching for Bigfoot" follows up on reported sightings.
They cover the area with night infra-red cameras.... If anything walks through the area, the cameras will snap a picture.
We visit the Bray Road area in Walworth County. The Beast of Bray Road is described as a werewolf like creature. A Wisconsin author documented centuries of sightings.
Biscardi has his own theory. "It could be a mutated version of the Bigfoot, that's most likely what it is."
Steve Krueger wonders what he saw out there near Holy Hill in Washington County last November. "It scared the living daylights out of me," he said. "I guess-timated it at around 6 and a half, 7 feet tall. It looked like a cross between a bear and a wolf."
Contracted by the DNR to pick up deer carcasses, Krueger was stopped on the side of the road when he felt his truck shake. He looked in the rear view mirror and saw..."It was standing on its hind legs with one of the paws and arms or whatever it was inside the bed of the truck."
Krueger took off. The deer carcass and a metal loading ramp from the truck were never found. "People can think what they want. I saw what I saw."
That's why Tom Biscardi and his team continue to chase the mystery. "We're getting a little bit closer every time we're out there."
Biscardi's crew did not find anything -- but they will be back to look for the many creatures people say are roaming Wisconsin.
