Media Reports: Sanger Paranormal 'Bigfoot Evidence' Press Conference

Paranormal group seeks help confirming 'Bigfoot DNA'

A California paranormal group claims to have DNA samples of Bigfoot -- concrete evidence of the legendary creature's existence -- but they want help authenticating them.

Members of the Sanger Paranormal Society will call upon the public to donate money and resources to their Bigfoot research effort at a Thursday afternoon news conference in Fresno, Calif.

The society's founder, Jeffrey Gonzalez, plans to present what he believes is an impression of the creature's face, pressed into two windows on the left-hand side of his pickup truck.

Each windowpane print depicts a seven-inch long pair of lips and a five-inch wide set of nostrils, Gonzalez told CTV.ca in a phone conversation from Fresno.

"We also found a 12-inch long footprint near the car," said Gonzalez, who added that he's preserved the samples in a climate-controlled room.

The prints were discovered 5,500 feet above ground at California's High Sierra mountain range during a six-person Sasquatch hunting expedition, said Gonzalez.

"A forensic expert has swabbed the prints for DNA and taken photographs on scene," said Gonzalez. "Now all we need to do is eliminate the possibility of it being another animal."

Gonzalez said he hopes that an anthropologist or anyone with a database of animal DNA steps forward to help authenticate their samples.

"It's not a hoax, it's not a joke; we have a reputation to protect," said Gonzalez, who works as a technician for AT&T.

Bigfoot enthusiasts became the brunt of many jokes in 2008 when two hikers in Georgia purported to have the creature's body in a freezer. Their hairy corpse turned out to be a rubber hoax.

For Martin Evison, the only place Bigfoot exists is in folklore.

The University of Toronto anthropology professor said he won't consider the possibility of Sasquatch's existence without seeing the creature himself.

"We have so much technology now, if this thing existed we would have found it already," Evison told CTV.ca.

"I don't even bother thinking about Bigfoot. I have better things to do." - CTV

Bigfoot evidence possibly found in Sierra Mountains

A local group of Bigfoot enthusiasts says it has new evidence the creature exists in in our local Sierra Mountains.

They say an imprint left on a pickup truck window over Memorial Day weekend is in fact that of a Bigfoot.

A team of five from the Sanger Paranormal Society was camping in the mountains about 2 1/2 hours east of Fresno. They say they left the truck behind to quickly escape a snow storm. When they went back the next day they found the imprint and had it examined.

Jeffrey Gonzalez said, "As it backed off it left an impression on the back window. Whatever it was, it was oily, greasy and dirty because you can see the facial features, you can see the shoulders and torso just like the Shroud of Turin."

The group collected what it thinks is DNA from the imprint. But now it needs help paying for the DNA to be tested, before drawing any official conclusions. - abclocal

Bigfoot In Our Backyard

They've been hunting for Bigfoot for years. Now a local paranormal group says it has the most convincing evidence yet. These trackers say Bigfoot is not too far from our backyard.

Over the years they've had close encounters but they say their newest find provides them with DNA to prove this is no myth.

Jeffrey Gonzales of the Sanger Paranormal Society claims an impression left on a pickup window is the most convincing evidence of Bigfoot since the Patterson film of 1967. "As it backed off it left an impression on the passenger window. Whatever it was, it was oily, greasy dirty because you can see the facial features."

Gonzales probably sees more than most of us but here is how the impression got on his pickup. He and his fellow Bigfoot trackers went to their "special spot" two and a half hours east of Fresno. They say it requires driving winding dirt roads before you get to 55–hundred feet.

On Thursday they displayed evidence from previous finds. Numerous foot prints and a shot of Bigfoot sitting on a rock 500 yards away. The impression on the pickup window occurred when Gonzales left the truck in the high country. Their group got caught in a surprise snow storm and his pickup doesn't have four wheel drive.

Forensic specialist Mickey Burrow was called in to collect DNA from the window. "My position is I don't know what it is. I'd like to find out exactly what it is."

He compared the print to a bear, mountain lion and a gorilla. The bear and mountain lion had too many inconsistencies, but not one with the gorilla. "I can't make a determination on the creature itself however in all I would say it's likely that it is an ape," said Burrow.

They come from all walks of life: a high school principal, nurse, plumber and crime scene expert. Their common bond is believing Bigfoot exists. "Since I was a kid in search of Bigfoot. Anything that has to do with Bigfoot it's my passion including ghosts and unidentified flying objects," Gonzalez said.

The latest snag for the group is finding money to pay for DNA testing. They believe the bill will be in the thousands. - KMPH

'Bigfoot Face Print' Press Conference Falls Short

The much anticipated 'Bigfoot Face Print' press conference called by the Sanger Paranormal Society on Thursday, June 23rd at 4 pm PDT in Fresno, CA was, in fact, a mere whimper in spite of the hype. It wasn't exactly a Biscardi 'Bigfoot in a freezer' production though the overall Bigfoot community will most likely be dealt a another blow in public opinion thanks to the rudimentary display proffered by the Sanger Paranormal group.

It sincerely pains me to make these comments...Jeffrey Gonzalez is a colleague who has supplied leads and stories to me in the past. But I am troubled by what I witnessed. I feel that I need to be particularly honest when it comes to the search for this cryptid...especially since I had a personal encounter with one of these hominids and know that it does exists. Bigfoot could be a terrestrial creature, a supernatural entity or a multidimensional being...it doesn't really matter. But I know it is real and dwells in some capacity.

Part of the presentation by the forensics specialist

The new evidence was touted as "Potentially the Most Convincing Evidence of Bigfoot Since the Patterson Film of 1967". Well...it wasn't. The consensus from Bigfoot researchers I talked to and who watched the press conference is that the creature in question was a California Black Bear. There was no DNA evidence presented because, it was stated, the cost for testing was too high. Gonzalez announced he is seeking donors to supply funds for further examination...though I have been told that at least one research group offered to pay for testing but was turned down by Sanger Paranormal. If this is indeed a fact, then one must wonder if other motives are already in play...for instance; potential investors. This is just speculation but the tone of the press conference sounded very similar to others I have observed.

The media advisory also stated "We have an full upper body impression including half of its face on the passenger side window of a pickup truck. And on the driver's side window, the nostrils, nose and lips of a Bigfoot" Most of the photos were presented at the conference though the better photos were reserved for the media packets...one of which I was able to obtain through another associate.

The 'face plant' image

Part of the presentation by the forensics specialist. Here he compares the smudges with animal facial features

The Sanger Paranormal team was said to consist of:

1. Is an award winning High School Principal with a Masters Degree, Formerly a Science Teacher and a former investigator for www.BFRO.com.

2. Correctional Officer for 19 years and is Employed at a prison in California. Was featured on a Episode of Monster Quest titled” the Sierra Sasquatch”.

3. Is a employee at AT&T Telephone. Associates Degree in Electronics. Founder of the www.SangerParanormalSociety.com (this is Jeffrey Gonzalez)

Also, a 14 year Forensic Specialist who is friends with 2 of the people mentioned above was called out to come and take photos and swab For DNA.

Team member demonstrates how a supposed Bigfoot peered in truck windows

This forensic specialist, in fact, works for the police department. He may have swabbed for DNA but he is not an expert in zoology...in light of the fact that he made comparisons to animal physiology in his presentation. He attempted to line up the evidence with facial features of a black bear, mountain lion and a gorilla in order to make a point that the smudges were that of a hominid species...though he did not discount that it may also be a bear.

Members of the press heading for the exits early

At that point, the credibility of the exhibition started to go south. In fact, the streaming video showed many of the media gathering their equipment and heading for the exits. I stayed online for the remaining portion of the pitch even though it was apparent that there would be no tangible physical or anecdotal evidence.

It will be interesting to read and hear the fallout from this demonstration as it most likely will be remembered as just another chapter in the 'Bigfoot Side Show'.

Fortean / Alternative News: The Sideshow - 'Finding Bigfoot' or Hoaxing Bigfoot

The Bigfoot Sideshow Continues

The following was posted recently by Loren Coleman from Cryptomundo on the Sanger Paranormal Society Facebook page in reference to their complaint that Coleman posted their photo of a supposed Bigfoot 'imprint' prior to a scheduled press conference:

You leaked the photo. If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. First off, Jeffrey and David, don’t complain to me about all the publicity, notice, and comments you are getting. You put out a press release. That means you wanted publicity. You leaked, released, forgot you posted, and so forth your photo. Fair use and public domain come into play. After your press release, what, did you think people would sit on our hands and not investigate? Now you have national AOL News attention because I told them about your press release, and you are “pissed” at me? OMG. Get a grip. This is what you wanted and now you aren’t happy it is not developing in the fashion you scripted it in your head? This is media attention. You wanted media attention. You should be thanking me, not cursing me. Would you rather you were given the silent treatment? Gosh. You can’t put out something, not take responsibility for it, and then blame everyone else for reacting to it. Think about how you are reacting to this, and chill out.

Huh? Maybe a case of envy and/or rivalry...or simply resentment for what may be another stunt that further diminishes the reputation of Bigfoot research? The press conference is scheduled for June 23rd, 2011. Is this just another chapter of the Bigfoot sideshow or is this more than speculation? We'll soon see.

'Finding Bigfoot' Hoax Exposed - By the Cast!

The TV show Finding Bigfoot has a lot of critics debunking the evidence that the legendary cryptid really exists. That now includes the people who appear on the show itself.

Cast members from the TV show have commented in various online forums that they are bugged by the heavy-handed editing done by producers of the series, and are not happy that they seem to be putting false words in their mouths. To say nothing of using tricks to make their actual findings more seemingly groundbreaking.

Critics of this kind of documentary-style Reality TV shows have pointed to programs about the Paranormal which seem to build on the gullibility and limited experience of viewers. The phrase "what the hell was that?" is becoming a catch-phrase for the practice.

It derives from the many characters in these shows who utter the phrase as they respond to perfectly normal, and easily explained, phenomenon caught on camera. Usually through night-vision FLIR lenses and "filming" ghosts or the famed Sasquatch itself. This seems to be the case in the latest example of rigged Reality TV.

Cast member and BFRO leader Matt Moneymaker says, in response to a question about one particular scene with typically grainy footage, "... the thing I ran after up the hill was a human — someone who was sneaking around us in the woods trying to watch the production in progress. I said so repeatedly and vehemently at the time, for the cameras, but they edited out all of that in order to make it seem unclear what I was chasing after."

That seems to be all the proof needed. Looks like Reality TV itself is the next Sasquatch. Someday everybody will try to prove it really does exist - by Tom Rose - Gather

Climate change disasters can be predicted

Climate change disasters, such as the melting of the Greenland ice sheet, dieback of the Amazon rainforest or collapse of the Atlantic overturning circulation, can be predicted according to University of Exeter research.

Writing in the journal Nature Climate Change, Professor Tim Lenton of the University of Exeter shows that the 'tipping points' that trigger these disasters could be anticipated by looking for changes in climate behaviour.

Climate 'tipping points' are small changes that trigger a massive shift in climate systems, with potentially devastating consequences. It is already known that climate change caused by human activity could push several potential hazards past their 'tipping point'. However, it is often assumed that these 'tipping points' are entirely unpredictable.

Professor Lenton argues that a system of forecasting could be developed to enable some forewarning of high-risk tipping points. The approach he outlines involves analysing observational data to look for signs that a climate system is slowing down in its response to short-term natural variability (which we experience as the weather). This characteristic behaviour indicates the climate is becoming unstable, and is a common feature of systems approaching critical thresholds known as 'bifurcation points'.

Professor Tim Lenton of the University of Exeter said: "Many people assume that tipping points which could be passed as a result of human-induced climate change are essentially unpredictable. Recent research shows that the situation is not as hopeless as it may seem: we have the tools to anticipate thresholds, which means we could give societies valuable time to adapt.

"Although these findings give us hope, we are still a long way from developing rigorous early warning systems for these climate hazards." - sciencedaily

Gators escape...still at-large

Eight alligators are still free after 17 escaped from an alligator farm in Citrus County Saturday.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, an investigator received a call from a local nuisance-alligator trapper, saying eight 4- to 6-foot alligators had been captured over four days.

The alligators were found in a housing development, but the investigator found a gator farmer nearby.

According to an FWC statement, "the alligator farmer was surprised to learn that of his 18 alligators, only one remained in the enclosure."

They had escaped by digging a hole under a fence.

The farmer, who had a license for the farm but now has surrendered it, was cited for maintaining wildlife in an unsafe/unsanitary condition. He had 20 animals, two of which died.

Eight alligators are still missing; the recaptured alligators have been sent to permitted farms. - firstcoastnews

Sanger Paranormal's Face Print: Not It's 1st Bigfoot Evidence Claim to Fame

The following is Lee Speigel's interview with Jeffrey Gonzalez of Sanger Paranormal in reference to the new Bigfoot evidence announcement. The images were briefly posted then removed from the Sanger Paranormal website. Further down, I have posted another media advisory made by Sanger Paranormal in reference to a Bigfoot evidence claim on July 6, 2009:

AOL - by Lee Speigel - California Bigfoot investigators were shocked over Memorial Day weekend when they found strange markings and hair on their pickup truck windows.

Now, they're hoping DNA tests will prove once and for all the existence of the legendary man-beast.

"On the passenger side window, when I first saw it, I almost threw up," said Jeffrey Gonzalez, an AT&T electronics technician and founder of the Sanger Paranormal Society.

Gonzalez and several others were in California's Sierra National Forest searching for evidence to confirm the reality of the creature. When it started to snow at their campsite, they were forced to leave two of their vehicles behind.

"Two days later, we came back to pick up our vehicles and that's when we found the impressions," Gonzalez told AOL Weird News, recalling what he and his companions noticed on the passenger window.

"Apparently, the creature was looking in the window and left behind dirt and oil on it, leaving such an awesome picture, you can see the nose, the eye, the hair all over the face and the shoulders -- it's creepy, and it's not a bear."

Gonzalez and his friends -- including a former science teacher and a correctional officer -- also found a 12-inch footprint at the site. They concluded their hairy intruder wasn't a bear because none of the four ice chests that were filled with food on the back of Gonzalez's truck had been touched.

But it wasn't just the passenger side window that presented a surprise -- the driver's side of the truck showed the imprint of a much larger creature, strongly suggesting there were two unexplained visitors to the campsite.

"An impression was left of a nose, eyes and lips, but they were extremely large," Gonzalez said. "The lips measured about 6 inches long. You can see that the whole face was full of hair, so when it leaned up against the window, you can see the depth of the eye socket in the glass.

"I've shown people -- non-believers -- this photograph and this totally freaked them out."

After Gonzalez returned home that day, he called a forensic expert to take DNA samples of the fur or hair that was left around the window impressions.

"One of the cautions I have about finding a nose print or anything on the side of a car is that it could be a homeless person, resulting in people letting their imaginations go wild," suggested Loren Coleman, owner of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.

"Of course, if you take a DNA sample and it comes back near-human or primate, then it would match both Bigfoot and a homeless person," Coleman told AOL.

But what about the addition of the large footprint near the truck where the window impressions were made?

"A 12-inch footprint is not too exciting, because it could be a human or bears imprinting on top of each other," Coleman speculated.

"In this case, it might not have been a homeless person, but in wilderness areas, there are other hikers and somebody would've naturally put their nose up to the window to look inside the car."

Gonzalez is holding a news conference on June 23 at the Piccadilly Inn in Fresno, Calif.

"I'll be presenting video of both windows, pictures and live testimony from the people who shared the event with me. We will also have a forensic expert who took DNA samples," he said.

Coleman, a long-time investigator of Bigfoot and other legendary creatures that come under the category of cryptozoology, is cautious about the outcome of this kind of news.

"You know, I'd be a fool if I didn't say that I'm hoping there's definitive evidence of Bigfoot found. I hope somebody will turn over any evidence to some scientists who could then hold a news conference at a university.

"Then people won't doubt what's going on."

NOTE: Thanks to Phantoms and Monsters reader Rick Sheen for the heads up!

Sanger Paranormal Society States Bigfoot Photo Authentic

MEDIA RELEASE - SANGER PARANORMAL SOCIETY - JULY 6, 2009

The Sanger Paranormal Society has confirmed the object that was photographed with a trail camera is not a tree stump or a bear. The team returned on Wednesday July 1, 2009 to the exact spot where the photo was taken. It was verified by Jeffrey Gonzalez, his wife Cheryl, Emerald Bonilla, Investigator for Sanger Paranormal and David Raygoza, veteran Bigfoot investigator. Other photographs were taken by the same camera during that same time period but were not posted because we wanted to see what kind of a reaction we would get from the paranormal field. Many Bigfoot investigators simply said the object was a tree stump or a figment of our imagination. Other said it was a bear standing on its hind legs and / or scratching its behind on a tree. One Bigfoot organization simply said and I quote, “we went to your site but we didn’t see anything”. But there are several problems with the opinions stated by the public and the paranormal investigators. For example, its not a tree stump because the dark object is no longer there. (see photo’s) Another problem with the bear theory is that if you notice the head, it does not have a snout. You can see the features of a human face such as the nose, mouth and chin. The arms on a bear, when standing, do not hang that far down. We also took measurements on how high this thing was. According to the leaves and the branches that were covering the objects face, the tape measure said it was between 8 and 9 feet tall. The same camera that took the picture of the object also took pictures of other animals such as black bear and deer, which does not resemble the object in any way. These cameras were left up in the Sierra National Forest Memorial day weekend and retrieved on June 7, 2009. The memory cards were downloaded that same day on my computer and the memory cards were taken back home with David Raygoza. We did go through the photos on my laptop while we were in the forest but never saw the object until 3 days later. I received a email from David Raygoza telling me to take a look at picture # so and so and look at the top left hand corner. I had all the photos on my laptop so I was able to look at them. David Raygoza has been visiting this location for 6 years now and was told about this spot by an elderly native American. He told David this particular spot in the forest was sacred Indian land and that weird things happened there. David Raygoza has had many individual sightings with many footprints but has never had the shot until now. With examining all the evidence and debunking the tree stump and bear theory, we can honestly say that we have captured a photograph of a bigfoot. I don’t care what people are going to say...this is for real……Jeffrey Gonzalez

UPDATE: I received this next batch of photographs from Jeffrey Gonzalez taken at the same location as the original photos. There are images from different times during daylight for comparison. Jeffrey points out that the angle of the hill is close to 45 degrees which would make it very hard for a bear to stand upright. As well, he states that there is no stump and that the object is clearly brown in color (not a black bear). Anyway, he promises that his group will continue to investigate the area. Jeffrey Gonzalez states ..."If this bear was walking up the hill on his hind legs, well, I better go find it because it needs to be in a circus. Also, they say it was a tree stump, well, the tree stump grew legs and walked away. They were saying that it was a bear rubbing its ass, what....between the 2 tree's and at a 45 degree angle? Quote me...we have a photo of BIGFOOT!" (click images for larger detail versions)

I received these images from the SangerParanormalSociety.com Sunday June 28th with the following note:

Please look top left hand corner. You need to zoom in. Feel free to crop it and clean it up or go to my web site where it's already cleaned up. If you use the picture on this email, please put on there Copyright-David Raygoza. He is a BFRO investigator who was with me and this picture is his property. We are going back this Wednesday to take measurements of the tree and see if there are any tracks or hair samples. I am also going to stand in the same place and have a picture taken. This is not a bear. Look how long the arms are. They go past the knees. Also, the face looks more human than bear. Jeffrey Gonzalez
