Is Randolph College Haunted?

Lynchburg, VA - July 10, 2007 - While it may have a new name, some say there are a few old spirits still lurking around the former Randolph-Macon Woman's College campus.

A bevy of ghost hunters paid a visit over the weekend, and they seemed to encounter some strange circumstances.

Their quest began in the basement of the library. Ghost hunter John James turned out the lights and set up his video camera. They returned 45 minutes later to find his two-hour tape completely used up. James was also nearly hit by a flying object. "I know it hit the metal. I heard it hit metal as I walked by," says James.

Just a little bit after midnight, the group reached Webb dormitory. According to some of the students, the dormitory is a hot spot for activity on campus. While in the building, two doors closed unexpectedly on one of the researchers. Two other people in the group also reported feeling something.

"He went into the room, then we were standing outside of the room. All of a sudden it was just like, it felt like hot energy. I don't think I've ever experienced anything like that in my life," says Kate Descoteaux.

So what do the slamming doors, dead batteries, and hot blasts of air art Randolph College mean?

"I think maybe they have something going on. A few doors have slammed, a couple of interesting meter readings, and some interesting stories, so it would be worth coming back again," says Terry Howell, Central Virginia Paranormal Research.
