91-Year-Old Woman Who Kept Corpses Cooperating‎ With Police

weny - Tonight neighbors are speaking out about this puzzling event involving a 91 year old woman and the mummified bodies of her late husband and twin sister.

This afternoon knocks on the door of 91-year-old Jean Stevens went unanswered.

Over at the Lime Hill cemetery are the disturbed gravesites of Stevens' husband, 86-year-old James, and her twin sister -- June, where the coroner confirmed the coffins are empty.

Police say Mrs. Stevens, enlisted people to dig up these graves and bring the bodies to her home down the road.

The mummified remains of her sister were kept in a spare room for more than a year. Her husband, James was kept in the garage for more than a decade.

James Belcher, a neighbor, said, “I was really shocked to find out there were two of them and she'd been keeping them there.”

But from what we know took place in that home, the details might seem a little sketchy, but a neighbor we spoke to who knows Mrs. Stevens personally says there's more to her than meets the eye.

Wayne Felter is Jean Stevens' personal friend and next-door neighbor.

Felter claims Mrs. Stevens is misunderstood saying, “People have her down for Tea and Coffee goes here and there...she's no weirdo, I'll tell you that. She comes over to my sister's for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and she's just a nice lady. Great sense of humor, she's got a great memory on her, there's nothing wrong with her in my book aside from that she just does that... that's all.”

But on the topic of digging up dead relatives, Felter thought the act was unusual but was reserved, saying, “I'm not the judge of her, there's only one judge and I'm not it.”

Pennsylvania state police are still searching for people of interest in this investigation.
