I received the following in reference to the Dyer Lake, WI encounter:
Hi, just read your WI area story. I have a place in Adams County, Wisconsin by Lake Petenwell. It is a campsite of 5 acres. I was partying out there with 3 people around midnight two years ago. We had the stereo cranked up when something started to grunt/growl louder than the radio just out of sight behind a 35ft camper. It repeated the sounds 3 times. I was ready to run for my life! I got to the stereo and turned it off but did not hear a thing after that. I had my spotlight and could not see or hear anything move away either. it sounded similar to an extremely loud bull snort mixed with a deep growl similar to the werewolf sound in the movies. It was so loud that even the people in the camper heard it! Just before this happened the whipperwills where going nuts.
We no longer walk alone on the trails at night, only riding golf carts or STVs on the trails after dark. Then last year we had another incident. We went out for a cart ride and heard a loud bark. I thought it was the neighbors dog...but no! It was a white wolf! It seemed aggressive with no fear and was circling the camper with 1 other dog. I have hunted at night and lived here my whole life and never heard anything like this first encounter. It has changed all of us for life! There is definitely something unexplained out there!
NOTE: I tend to agree...there is definitely something out there! Lon

SHADOW PERSON WITH CAMERA?
Dear Lon: I read Phantoms and Monsters every day. I have something to share with you...I don’t know what this was, but perhaps someone else has had a similar experience.
It happened Friday night/early Saturday morning around 4:00am. I live in a townhouse apartment. I share a bedroom with my daughter on the second floor. Outside our room is a short hallway that leads to a bathroom. My son’s room is next to the bathroom. His room is cold, and he keeps a small space heater running during the night. If you turn on the bathroom light when the space heater is running, it blows a fuse. So during the several years we’ve been living here, I've learned go to the bathroom without turning the light on. There’s a security light outside not too far from our window, and it shines in a little light in the bathroom, enough that it’s not pitch black. That morning, I went into the bathroom and shut the door. Immediately, there was a bright flash of light, as if a camera flash went off. I was facing the mirror that hangs on almost the entire wall over the sink, and I swear, I am not making this up...when the flash went off, I saw what appeared to be a tall, thin black figure reflected in the mirror, as if it was standing behind me, and it looked as if it had something like a camera in its hand. The room went dark and I had spots in front of my eyes like you do when you get your picture taken with a camera flash. The incident only took a second or two, but I was so freaked out by seeing that shadowy figure behind me that I groped for the door handle and yanked the door open and jumped out into the hallway. My heart was pounding and my knees were shaking. I opened my son’s door and looked in; he had his heater off so I turned on the bathroom light. There was nothing in there. I used the bathroom and shut off the light, but I couldn’t go back to sleep for a long time.
The next morning, I took a tape measure in the bathroom. There is a medicine chest on the wall next to where this figure was standing. I measured, and whatever this was, it was 8 feet tall. I wasn’t dreaming...I was awake, and I definitely saw the flash and the figure standing there. Needless to say, I’ll be turning the light on at night in the bathroom from now on. Does anyone have any idea what this could have been? Do shadow people take “photos” of us? This has really creeped me out. I just keep wondering what it was, and why it was taking a photo of me. Sharon
NOTE: this is definitely a new one for me...an entity taking flash photos. Has anyone experience anything similar? Lon

LARGE FLOATING BLACK OBJECT
I was wondering if anyone has approached you or if you have heard of a Large Floating Black Object? (looks like a person covered in black cloth but no body features just a head torso I guess).
This sounds so weird, but my co-worker saw it too. It was just floating over downtown London, Ontario by St. Joes Hospital about 2 to 2.5 years ago. I have been trying to find any information that someone else saw this but can not locate anything. Possibly I am not searching with the right criteria so it could be out there.
It was moving freely and was visible to me for over 2 hours - 6:30 am to 8:30 am - it was a flowing form, seemed solid but it's "cloak" was like flowing fabric. It was solid black and hovered over the hospital and church in that area than floated around that area as well.
My co-worker first noticed it from his building, and I called him to ask when he was coming in as I had something to show him, but before I ended the call, he asked me if it was the floating mass over downtown. He was on the 20th floor of his building.
If you guys aren't the right people to contact or you know someone else I could email this to, I would appreciate some answers.
I received this interesting correspondence from a 'Beyond the Edge' Radio listener recently:
Hello Lon,
I am writing about something that happened to me about 20 years ago.
I live in a small lake area called Bohners Lake, just outside of Burlington, Wisconsin. At the time of this tale I lived on the opposite side of the lake of where I live now about a half mile away from a boy scout camp called Camp Oh-Da-Ko-Ta. This camp encompasses 185 acres of beautiful rolling hills and woodlands on Dyer Lake.
It was a beautiful summer day and I decided to take a walk with my dogs, a Golden Retriever and English Setter. I went a different way than usual and happened upon the back trail to the camp. It was chained off, but I chanced it anyway and hopped over to check it out.
The area indicated by the witness (noise came from largest building in middle of inset)
The trail was very quiet and peaceful and we walked a while enjoying ourselves greatly. After a bit we came upon some buildings. One was a large pole barn type that had it's doors chained shut. Curiosity overtook me, as usual, and I went up and pushed on one of the large doors allowing a crack of about 6 inches. I tried peering inside and couldn't see much but a floor and empty space.
I was shocked when an earsplitting roar came out of the barn. It sounded like a scream but deep, guttural and bearlike.
Well, my dogs took off running, and I took off running after them terrified. We ran back to my house and, shaking like a leaf and out of breath, I told my (now ex) husband what had happened. He of course told me that what I had heard was a crane........ I just stared at him incredulously. I knew better, but I wasn't going to argue the point with him and just pondered on it for a bit by myself, attempting to calm down.
The day went on and nothing else was said about it until just after dark when we both heard the same scream coming from the back yard!
The house I lived in at the time had a huge back yard. At the very back we had a garden by a small wooded area, and it was from there that we heard the scream. Well, my ex grabbed his rifle, and the dogs and headed down to the garden finding nothing.
He came back to the house, eyes wide, and acknowledged that what I had heard was not a crane.
After that we went about our night talking about it, with the dogs nervously prancing about, and eventually went to bed.
Being summer, the bedroom windows were open and about 3 am, I was shocked awake when "it" was just outside the window and screamed into it. The dogs didn't even bark, they just cowered, whining.
My husband again jumped up and grabbed the rifle and went outside, without the dogs as they didn't want to have anything to do with it,to investigate...again nothing.
Well the story would end here as we didn't hear anything after that, and I was too scared to investigate the building again, but it just happened that about 3 weeks later my husband and I went away for the weekend on a camping trip and my mother, younger sister, and her two daughters spent the night at our house to watch the dogs while we were gone.
The following morning my sister was in the kitchen cooking breakfast when my niece Sandra came in. She looked at the kitchen window and noticed a long smear mark on the kitchen window.
She was about 9 at the time and looked up at my sister and said, " I know what did that." My sister looked at it and asked Sandra what she thought made it.
Sandra replied, " Ooooo, it was the Swamp Monster"... My sister chuckled and asked her why she thought that.
Now, I was always teasing the girls with stories about a swamp monster that lived out by me so they just knew that there was a creature out there. This of course was before my own experience and it wasn't cute and funny anymore.
Then she said, "I saw the Swamp Monster last night."
My sister said chuckling still, "Oooooo, what did you see?"
Sandra just looked at her and said, "I saw a huge white hairy arm and it ran it's claws across the bedroom screen." (my bedroom)
My sister said, "Wow, what did you do?"
Sandra said, "Aw, I just rolled over and went to sleep, I knew it was Aunt Tina trying to scare me."
Of course, we were camping.
So, what did she see? I haven't a clue to this day. But I wonder, were they keeping something out there, or was there something living in that barn unbeknownst to them at the camp and did it follow me home?
Last summer my brother, sister-in-law and I tried going back there, but we got stopped by the person living across the road before we could go across the chain that is still there.
One more thing about that camp. Before this situation, a group of us had gone in the front entrance to the camp by car to check out Dyer Lake that is at the center edge of the camp hoping to sneak in some late night swimming. This was of course after dark and we of course were not supposed to be there.
We arrived at the trail to the lake and got out of the car with our flashlights to walk. We tried following the trail but ended up going off somewhere along the line. We went over a hillside and there, at the bottom of the hill was a beautiful raw iron gate about 6' tall. There was a hole dug into the side of the hill, and this gate was covering the opening.
We opened the gate, and found ourselves in a 12'x12' cave of sorts. Inside were candles, a dead rooster, and a sythe. There was nothing else. No altar or other signs of occult practices, just the things we found haphazardly laying about the room. My sister's now ex-husband took the sythe (which I told him to leave there) and we left and never went back. That is until I went for my walk that summer day.

I received the following from a reader and blogger, JS:
Hi,
What do you make of this? A friend sent me these 4 photos from Ohio near Columbus. Any dogman sightings in that area that you're aware of?
----------
“I am not used to seeing the kind of tracks in my back yard like the samples I’m attaching here. Any ideas? Looks BIG. Gulp.”
So read the email I received last week from my close friend S. with 4 photos attached. He lives in Franklin County, Ohio near Columbus, works in a highly visible profession and is too shy to post these images himself — but he’s also alarmed by the footprints he and his wife found in their back yard last week after the last big snowfall. Knowing of my keen interest in the ridiculous-yet-hard-to-explain, he sent them to me.
He’s been perusing BFRO’s site for sasquatch sightings in his area looking to make some kind of sense of this, but to no avail.
“The right track has blood on it — the right foot seems to indicate a foot injury,” his email continued. “We are kinda freaking out. We have spent hours combing through wild animal track books, trying to isolate and identify the tracks, hoping to come up with an explanation. WHOA. Freaking. S.”
He says the tracks crossed through his yard and stopped at a large tree. Sadly there was no shivering juvenile squatch hiding in the tree when he looked up — but then where did it go? Did it fly away? Jersey devil? Mothman? My two cents — these aren’t sasquatch, Jersey devil or mothman prints; they’re clearly dogman prints. Perhaps it leapt from the tree onto another tree or onto his roof (he didn’t think to look there for more prints) and was gone. (UPDATE 1/27/11: I just searched and found this regarding Ohio’s “Loveland creature,” a reptilian spotted in 1955 and 1972, so I’m switching my opinion from dogman to lizardman.)
They’re real. It’s not a hoax. Your theory? He’s open to your explanations.
Blood droplets, top left, spattered all along right foot path.
NOTE: not sure what to make of this...someone suggested a kid's lizard shaped slippers. The lack of depth in the snow fascinates me the most...Lon
********** I received the following email today...references chem-trails over Illinois:
Hello,
I just caught your interesting article The Never Ending Mystery of Those Nasty Chem-Trails and I too, have been very concerned about them.
For a little background, let me explain that I have lived in the same location for over 60 years less 16 years of military service, and where I live, has been in my family for nearly 100 years, it is where I grew up. So I have experienced the skies above for nearly 45 years. Although I first noticed the Chem-Trail spraying over 20 years ago, over the past four years they have become increasing more persistent.
As a sky watcher, and a weather spotter, I keep an especially close eye on the sky in the spring, where thunderstorm here in Illinois can spawn a tornado in just a few minutes. Over the last four years I have noticed many strange cloud formations, and of course the lattice looking trails in the sky after a spraying has been done increasing in frequency and duration. In times past, say 10 years, the occurrence of Chem-Trails was periodic, and occurred a few times a month, and maybe no more than once or twice a week, and usually never more than once a day. Then beginning about four years ago, I noticed an increase in the spraying, to every few days, and in some cases two times a day. What I noticed as the spraying intensified was cloud formations that were forming much more quickly than they had in past years, and much faster than they did 20-25 years ago. Even more unexplained is the frequent storms that come from the east. When I was a kid, a storm coming out of the east was an unusual occurrence, and the saying was, "if a storm comes out of the east, it will be a beast." Over time, and especially over the past two years, the frequency of storms coming out of the east have increased noticeably.
I am also a radar observer, and over the course of a day, I will check the radar multiple times, especially if there are any threats of severe weather. This past year, I watched a thunderstorm that remained stationary over an area approximately 40 miles northwest of my location for over 2 days, and reports from the area reported more than 4 inches of rain fall in that period. The amazing thing was that only a few miles in any direction from where the storm was stationary, the weather was only partly cloudy, and in some cases the sun was shining, and they received little or no rainfall. While in the area that got the continued rain there was flood warnings issued!
The picture on your page, in years past before the spraying of our skies began, would have been termed a "sun dog," a phenomenon that is caused when ice crystals form in the upper atmosphere in very high clouds, and were a fairly rare occurrence, but over the past few years, these has become fairly common, seemingly from the effect of the materials that are being sprayed, and with no cloud formation in the area prior to the spraying. These kinds of formations were usually seen in the evening near the time of sun set, but over the past few years, they can been seen at any time of day.
In the spring of 2009, I found a strange gelatin like glob in my rain guage, after I pour out the water, it remained stuck to the glass. I fished the glob out, and put in a small clear glass vial, thinking that I might send it off for analysis, but within the matter of a few hours it had dried, and formed a crystalline shell like structure, and within a few more hours after that the structure disintegrated, and then disappeared completely leaving no traces of ever existing, except a ring in the corner of the vial where it had been. After I had found the first glob, I looked in other places to see if I could find anything like this, and while I did not find any globs, and only two other crystalline shells, I did find several circles that looked suspiciously like the one left in the vial.
Last year the spraying in this area was so bad that at times it would form a brown haze in the air, on what had been only a few hours ago, a clear sky. Even my wife, who until a few years ago took little interest in the spraying, pointed out several times the spraying that was being done, especially in the evening. I also noticed that in the spring during times of intense spraying that the rainfall amounts seemed to be much higher. Several times after a week of intense spraying we would see rain fall amounts that were in the 5-6 inch range, and caused minor flooding, or in some cases severe flooding, as was the case in the Spring of 2009. While some of these phenomenon would not to be out of the ordinary were they only occurring ever now and again, this pattern has repeated itself multiple times over a small period of time.
Which brings me to another point. The winter here in Illinois has been a terribly cold miserable one, with very little relief. For the past month we have seen few days above freezing, and much more snow than we are accustom to, but still noting compared to the snows I observed as a child where drifts was sometimes 4-5 feet tall, and blew over fences in such a way that you could walk the drifts clear over the fences. Still compared to winters of the past 20 years it is the worst I remember, and on a clear day last week I observed them spraying in the area, but with only straight lines, and not lattice style, running east and west. At the time the jet stream was just above my location according to the maps. The very next day we had 5" of snow, and oddly enough, while the movement of the storm was from west south west to east north east, the snow fell from the east most of the day.
I have my theories for the reasons behind this spraying, and while I am sure that the spraying is manipulating the weather, I believe that their may be other motives, and whether weather modification is the intended goal of the spraying, or whether its a by-product of the intended purpose, it is is happening on an increasing more frequent basis. I also have some pictures of the Chem-Trails and storm cloud formations that I have observed if you think you might be interested in seeing them.
Of course, while my observations of Chem-Trails have mostly been during the day, the night skies here on the Illinois prairie are no less intriguing, but then that's a subject for another day. Thanks for your sight, its a very interesting one, and I stop by often to see what new.

I also received the following email a few weeks ago:
Dear Lon,
I have never written about this or even told anyone but as I read today's post about UFO encounters it made me realize that I have to tell someone. As I read your blog everyday I figured you would probably be the right person to tell. Please feel free to tell others this story, but withhold my name.
When I was 12 in the summer (late august) of 1998 I went to visit my Great Grandmother in a Village in Norfolk not far from Norwich, as a child I would often spend weeks at a time at her house. I remember the time of year and the actual year so well as I MADE myself remember, so that I would always know when it happened.
I always slept in the back room which was a spare bedroom / room where grandchildren slept. It was warm comfortable and filled with family photos, the only bad thing was that the cat would occasionally sneak in and scare me half to death.
One night shortly before I was due to go back I went upstairs to bed as normal. I walked across the bedroom to close the curtains when I noticed a UFO, not out of the corner of my eye but right in front of me. It was the classical UFO shape (flying saucer/ think Jupiter shape but squished so the ball part is not so round) it had a green and red light underneath. It must have some distance from me and I remember thinking that it was hovering close to the ground, over the field that the back of my Grandmothers house faced onto. I was only 12 at the time and it frightened me, I quickly closed the curtains and decided that I would never read another book about UFO's or even watch Star Trek. That did not last for long.
Strange thing is I am a very open person and I never told anyone about that night. Even odder was that My Great Grandmother, my Grandmother and my Grandfather were in that house that night and I never screamed or anything, it just never occurred to me. I just quickly closed the curtains, went to bed, pulled the blankets over my head, swore off UFO's and Star Trek and very quickly fell asleep, which is another unusual thing as I have always had trouble falling asleep.
It was not until years later when I was reading a new book I bought on UFO's that I discovered that there had been a wave of UFO sightings in Norfolk that same year. That news made me feel a lot better, yet I still never told anyone until now. Thank you for reading this.
Also as a last note I have a pretty weird experience with ghosts in my teens, email my if you would like to hear that. Its just that right now I needed to get the UFO thing off my chest.
On January 11th, I posted Dogman Entity - North Central Texas - SRI that included the background and remote view log conducted on a 19 acre ranch in Stephens County, Texas. Since then, we decided to conduct a 2nd remote view session in order to gather further insight as to what is transpiring at this location. You can following SRI cases at Astral Perceptions...though, you must register to access and discuss the information...Lon
2nd Remote View - January 17th
Irene and I conducted a 2nd remote view on this case yesterday, 1/17/11. Joe M. also followed the session.
Irene set the target coordinates for me and monitored the session. We systematically executed 4 phases in order to perceive the target and to gather as much information possible. This session would be a bit different than previous remote views due to the large area involved as well as the uncertainty as to what we were hoping to perceive. NOTE: A second set of coordinates was developed after the 4 phases were completed for reasons that will be explained later.
In Phase 1, the coordinates (a set of two - four digit numbers) were given to me...from which an ideogram (a graphic symbol that represents an idea or concept) was developed. The target was a chosen point in real time which may have been related to the sightings at the location. By probing the ideogram, 'descriptors' (the function of describing) were used to determine the nature of the target. Several attempts with the same target coordinates are performed in order to get an average assessment. In this case, the descriptors were varied but Irene observed (without my awareness) that a portal ideogram had developed in two separates attempts.
In Phase 2, the target vignette was narrowed by probing for sounds, textures, temperatures, colors, luminescence, contrast and smells. By using this matrix, I was able to focus in on any verticals, horizontals, diagonals, topography, mass and energetics as well as my overall 'feeling' of the target. As in Phase 1, my sense of the target was varied and unclear though a few bits of information were coming into view. I did perceive a 'grinding' sound and that I was near a small building that seemed to be a workshop. (the client verified later that her husband was in this building attempting to start a pickup). There was a vertical and diagonal shape as well but I didn't recognize what this was until later in the session. I also sensed movement to the east / southeast of the location but I could not determine the distance. There was a tan-brown mound that stood out from the remaining topography as well as something moving near it...then suddenly, everything disappeared.
In Phase 3, I made a rough sketch or drawing of what I was perceiving. At this point, the sketch was of the building and the land expanse to the east / southeast. I was unable to focus on anything else...I felt like I was being pushed away in order to stop my observation.
In Phase 4, I went into a deeper perception of the target. This included sense, magnitudes, emotions, physicals, subspace, viewer feeling, concepts and deductions. My comprehension of the target was still confusing so Irene directed that I focus, in real-time, the last area I identified...which was the area where I had noticed the mound. There was a small clearing present with nothing remarkable. Irene instructed me to perceive this target from above at an altitude of 1000 feet. As a I focused in on the area I realized a dark opening that would open, then close...back and forth. Irene instructed that I move closer to the opening...then instantly, I was in darkness. I was in a great expanse with barely enough light from above to see where I was. It was obvious to Irene that I had entered a portal...coinciding with the ideogram from Phase 1.
At this point, I started to notice that I had grasped onto scenes from an earlier time...but these scenes would fade in and out, mingling with other events and time periods. Irene ended the session.
We agreed that we needed to go further in order to find out what had really happened at this location. So we continued with a new session.
Another set of coordinates (a set of two - four digit numbers) were given to me...from which an ideogram (a graphic symbol that represents an idea or concept) was developed. The ideograms again pointed towards a portal. As we proceeded into the 2nd and 3rd phases, I was beginning to get a handle on the scenes before me.
There was no continuity but I did perceive several covered wagons and tall human beings with wolf-like heads attacking these wagons. This scene did not last very long when I was then directed back to an area near the client's home. There was frantic movement and tall diagonal shapes with shadows all around (these diagonals were tee-pees that I had sensed in Phase 2). As I started to focus in, I recognized that this was a Native American camp...though I could not pick up on any sounds (which was a blessing I later found out). I observed people bound to a long wooden rail and sensed their intense fear and dread. I also sensed the murderous frenzy and excitement of the captors. I smelled and tasted blood...a sickly sweet sensation as well. I witnessed and experienced horrific scenes of torture and death.
As we proceeded to the next phase I eventually found my way to a building on the client's property. I entered the doorway into a kitchen and dining room. (I was told later by the client that this was the house of friends who live on the ranch).
As I observed the inside of the home I was greeted by a young girl who asked 'where is father?' She was about 7-8 years old and wore a blue and white pattern smock dress with a full-body off-white apron. She also wore a blue bonnet tied under her chin.
She motioned to the door behind me and moved past me...we both passed through the door to the outside. It was getting dark and cooler. The girl pointed to the area east / southeast of the property and said what sounded like 'Mr. Joe....' It was hard to understand what she was trying to tell me...I didn't know if she was referring to the client's husband, Joe M. who was following the session or someone else.
Within seconds we were standing in the area where I had observed the portal. At this point, the girl looked up at me and presented her arms to me with her palms up. I was immediately shocked at what I was seeing...both arms had deep, open cuts that ran from the shoulders to the hands. As I looked in horror she began to wave her arms in circular motions as if she was in a trance.
Not long after she began her wild movements I heard a crackling and scratching sound. To my right, the dogman entity meekly brushed by. It approached the little girl and laid down beside her. She dropped to her knees and placed a confident arm firmly around the beast. This was her protector...Lon

A note from the client that was received after the 2nd remote view:
When Joe and I moved here back in 2004, I perceived that someone had been killed, or at least buried on our property, or very near here. Later I discovered an old hair ribbon, partially buried in the soil, near the SE corner of our old house. I knew then that it was a young girl. I do not how she died, only that she is here. I asked her to talk to me but so far she has only called out to me, "hello". Joe has never seen, nor heard her, never felt her presence but he heard the music box this evening when I did, while you were remote viewing. I do know that back in the 1800s, settlers here had a rough time with Comanche raiders.

North Central Texas - 1/5/11 - Spirit Rescue International was contacted by a very reliable source asking us to try and locate a portal on her land which she suspects has been opening up. The client herself has also seen what appears to be a black creature which was also witnessed by a neighbour at a different time.
The neighbour also reports a car driving along the road that came to a sudden halt parallel to the creature then sped away at high speed, could it be that the cars occupants also have witnessed the creature.
The following day the client went to the position of the sighting to take photos, as she approached the area she at once became fearful, the atmosphere had changed her gut feeling told her to get away and she fled back to the house. This lady is very level headed and doe's not get scared easily.
This is about all we have at the moment. We do not like to be given to many details before a remote view. This sounds like it is going to be a very interesting one though.
As soon as we can, this RV will take place. The target will be a stretch of land that extends to 19 acres...Irene

Remote View Notes
Irene and I conducted a remote view on this case today, 1/10/11.
Irene set the target coordinates for me and monitored the session. We systematically executed 4 phases in order to perceive the target and to gather as much information possible. This session would be a bit different than previous remote views due to the large area involved as well as the uncertainty as to what I was hoping to perceive.
Several attempts with the same target coordinates were done in order to get a average assessment. In this case, the descriptors were varied and did not offer has much information as desired.
In Phase 2, the target vignette was narrowed by probing for sounds, textures, temperatures, colors, luminescence, contrast and smells. Through this information I was able to focus in on any verticals, horizontals, diagonals, topography, mass and energetics as well as my overall 'feeling' of the target. As in Phase 1, my sense of the target was varied and unclear though a few bits of information were coming into view.
In Phase 3, I made a rough sketch or drawing of what I was perceiving. At this point, the sketch was assumed to be a 'portal'. The description of the portal from Phase 2 was that of a 'dark to light blue colored space that varied in size, shape and luminescence....a sulfur smell was present as well as the sensation of something slick and fluid to the touch'.
In Phase 4, I went into a deeper perception of the target. This included sense, magnitudes, emotions, physicals, subspace, viewer feeling, concepts and deductions. There were other specifics used, but at this point there was no systematic procedure needed because the observations were beginning to flood in. I immediately started to sense an entity present...described as a low-to-the-ground creature moving around the location. This entity was dark colored, canine in appearance but also possessed some human-like features. There was hair on the face and back but the rest of the body was hairless with a dark colored 'sheen' on the skin.
As I probed deeper into the target I sensed that (in real time) it was dusk and that seemed to be the time that this entity moved through the portal onto the surface plane. The creature noticed me and suddenly turned away...an attempt to avoid looking directly at me. There was no malevolence detected.
I had previously detected an underground route or cavern that allowed this entity to move undetected at fairly lengthy distances to other portals along the way. As well, there is a very good possibility that this is a multidimensional being...though, there does seem to be some physical aspects to it.
This area of Texas was inhabited by the Comanche Nation, so we will be considering some of their legends when researching this location...Lon

I contacted the client not long after the remote view session in order to get their thoughts and assessments. (NOTE: the client has known psychic ability and is a forensic artist)
The client verified that this entity does 'come out' at dusk and has been seen by several other witnesses at this location. This location also has natural gas reservoirs. One of the nearby natural gas heads has been leaking off and on...and that a 'sulfur' smelling additive indicates that the apparatus is leaking. As well, the general area has connecting oil fields...all open space underground would easily contain crude oil at various levels. (This may explain the 'dark colored sheen' on the creature).
The client was adamant that they sensed that I was at the location during the period of the remote view session.
The client has expressed that they do not want the entity moved because they feel it is a 'protector' and it should remain where it is comfortable. I wholeheartedly agree. The client and their family are of native American heritage and aware of the relationship between the spirit and natural world. They wanted to get a better sense of this entity in order to reassure those who also live on the premises...Lon

Client photo of the portal area and where the entity was seen at dusk
The following is an update from the client:
I just realized why you saw the portal as "a dark to light colored blue fluid gateway". We had a lot of rain before you did the remote view and there was standing water in the area where the portal was last seen. As you saw it in the light of dusk (sky was cloudy and gray), and with all that standing water, it would probably cause it to look lighter.
The portal itself is dark (pitch black), however I forgot to mention that I saw a reddish light, right at dark, just a few nights ago, in an area just south of where (name redacted) saw the portal. This was just a flash of red light, just above the ground. I could not make out anything else, as the surroundings were already dark. I felt that something emerged from that spot.
Could this be the entity that I saw looking in through my patio door? It was humanoid, not very large and pitch black. I only saw it's eyes for an instant, that's where I first got the sense of a lupine. The eyes were a dark yellow color but unlike a wolf, the eyes did not reflect light. It looked right at me, then vanished. You did not describe the color of the entity...was it dark and did you see it's eyes when it looked towards you?
I have a feeling that it watches me. I am not afraid of *it* but I am afraid to some extent, of what else is lurking out there. Perhaps that is why it is here? To guard me and others from something else?
Very accurate. I am very impressed with your abilities. You were dead on in your assessment. Thank you so much! Please send my regards to Irene, as well.
NOTE: I feel that this is the same entity that I encountered. I mentioned to Irene that it did change facial features at least once while I observed it. The entity was very dark in color including the other features I made note of. I plan to research possible similar sightings in this region as well as Comanche and Wichita Nation legends. It does have a similarity to the Skin Walker stories, but there is a multidimensional aspect to this entity as opposed to a mystical perspective. You can following SRI cases at Astral Perceptions...though, you must register to access the information. Any thoughts or information would be appreciated...Lon

In the American Southwest, the Navajo, Hopi, Utes, and other tribes each have their own version of the Skinwalker story, but basically they boil down to the same thing - a malevolent witch capable of transforming itself into a wolf, coyote, bear, bird, or any other animal. To the Navajo, yee naaldlooshii is "with it, he goes on all fours", a practitioner of Frenzy Way. The witch might wear the hide or skin of the animal identity it wants to assume, and when the transformation is complete, the human witch inherits the speed, strength, or cunning of the animal whose shape it has taken.
"The Navajo Skinwalkers use mind control to make their victims do things to hurt themselves and even end their lives," writes Doug Hickman, a New Mexico educator. "The Skinwalker is a very powerful witch. They can run faster than a car and can jump mesa cliffs without any effort at all."
The Navajo believe that Skinwalkers have the power to steal the “skin” or body of a person. That if you engage eyes with a Skinwalker they can immerse themselves into your body. Skinwalkers avoid bright light and their eyes glow like an animal’s when in human form. When in their animal form their eyes don’t glow as an animal’s would.
In the ancient Hopi culture there was a ritual ceremony once performed, called the Ya Ya Ceremony. In this ceremony, members would convert themselves into assorted animals utilizing the hides from the animal they selected, and the members use certain animals for their attributes. The coyote skin is for high-velocity, precise sense of smell, and the acute agility. The bear skin is for brute force, but not a good choice for speed.
When in animal form the Skinwalker will retain their wits and because of this they make a really dangerous adversary. Also unlike the werewolf, they have a whole bag of tricks that includes immobilizing powder, mind control, and even disease.
According to University of Nevada-Las Vegas anthropologist Dan Benyshek, who specializes in the study of Native Americans of the Southwest, "Skinwalkers are purely evil in intent. I'm no expert on it, but the general view is that Skinwalkers do all sorts of terrible things - they make people sick, they commit murders. They are graverobbers and necrophiliacs. They are greedy and evil people who must kill a sibling or other relative to be initiated as a Skinwalker. They supposedly can turn into were-animals and can travel in supernatural ways."
Anthropologist David Zimmerman of the Navajo Nation Historic Preservation Department explains: "Skinwalkers are folks that possess knowledge of medicine, medicine both practical (heal the sick) and spiritual (maintain harmony), and they are both wrapped together in ways that are nearly impossible to untangle."
Among the Navajo, for instance, medicine men train over a period of many years to become full-fledged practitioners in the mystical rituals of the Dine' (Navajo) people. The medicine men have shown themselves to be effective in treating a range of ailments according to the U.S. Public Health Service. But, there is also a dark side. Witches follow some of the same training and obtain similar knowledge as their more benevolent colleagues, but they supplement both with their pursuit of the dark arts, or black magic. By Navajo law, a known witch has forfeited its status as a human and can be killed at will. The assumption is that a witch, by definition, is evil.
The cautious Navajo will not speak openly about Skinwalkers, especially with strangers, because to do so might invite the attention of an evil witch. After all, a stranger who asks questions about Skinwalkers just might be one himself, looking for his next victim.

I live close to the reservation just outside Mesa, Arizona. I have a couple of Native friends who I just recently went camping with around 20 miles outside the valley to a place they call Three Poles. This place is considered holy land in their eyes and is close to a river. There are numerous stories I know about this place, such as the flute player you can hear at night or the boulder-sized splashes you hear in the river. But the most notable are the stories of the skinwalkers.
We arrived at the camping site around 9 p.m. It was already dark, so we started to unpack and made a fire. Once that was done, my Native buddies put up the barriers and puffed the smoke of tobacco upon us as a personal barrier. They told me never to go anywhere alone and that around 3 a.m. is when the spirits are the most active. Around 2 a.m. the beating of a drum became very clear; this is a sign of the skinwalker, they told me. At around 3 a.m., the smell of wet dog became apparent. This is the sign of either two things: Hoofy, an extremely evil spirit; or the skinwalkers.
The fire grew small and we could see the shadows of animals. We all decided to move to another site in the morning. As first light dawned, we packed. I sat in the back of his truck to hold down the stuff. As we left, I saw a rottweiler walking on its hind legs straight to the middle of our camp. It was easily 5 feet tall and had bright orange eyes. I freaked out and screamed as it was running at us, still standing up. It disappeared into a bush after we turned the corner.
Later on at our other camp, an old man with his face covered up by hair visited us and acted very strangely. We ran out of drinks, so a friend and I decided to head out on foot (no car; a friend had to take it home). We saw a car. As it approached, it slowed down to a halt and the same man asked if we wanted a ride. We said no because by this time my friends had told me the man was a skinwalker. He grabbed my arm and pulled me by his car and looked straight at me. As my friend ran up to grab me, the man took off in his car.
Once we got back, I relaxed. It was around dawn when just behind me the man appeared about 10 feet away and asked if I could help him with something back at his camp. As he did, two trucks came around the corner to head further into the grounds. He watched them as they passed and then all of a sudden he bolted after them. I was astonished seeing this 60-year-old man chasing down a car. My native friends put up a salt barrier. I heard sounds all night, but never saw anything after that. - Levi D. (paranormal.about.com)

As a teenager, I would visit my grandma at her home on the Navajo rez for several weeks every summer. I loved to spend time with her, eat her delicious fried bread, and hear her tell us stories. Every so often my grandma would hire a worker (the harmless town drunk) to do odd jobs around her house and property. One evening right before the sun went down, I was asked by my grandma to take him home, which was about four miles out of the valley where she lived. I was more than happy to, seeing that I was only 14 years old and was asked to drive a truck! Mind you that on the rez, nobody cares that you're only 14 years old and driving around. Hell, there's hardly anybody around to see you anyway! So my 9 year old brother jumped in the truck cab with me while this "worker" and my dog shared the tailgate of the truck and we were off. After I dropped the worker off at the shack that he and his brothers called a house, we headed back down the road to grandmas. As I mentioned before, it was evening and the sky was a deep red as the sun began to set behind us. We were leaving a nice dust trail from the dirt road and the radio was playing music from the only radio station that could be picked up from the nearest town of Holbrook, Arizona.
There was nothing unusual, nothing weird. It was at this time that my eye caught movement of something in the bushes a little up the road to the right of us. I remember slowing down thinking that it was one of the many free roaming sheep in the area that would dart out in front of the truck. As I passed where I thought I saw it, I sped up thinking nothing else of it. Then out of nowhere I just felt this dark feeling of fear and dread. I had no idea why I was feeling this way but I definitely felt that something was wrong.
As I play this memory back in my mind, there are only a few clear memories that I have of that evening. I clearly remember looking in my rearview mirror and seeing the dark silhouette of something very tall and very skinny that seemed to be covered with some kind of hair or fur running behind the truck after us! Whatever it was, it wasn't a normal human or human at all. I remember hearing my brother crying and my dog barking ferociously at whatever was chasing us. I remember speeding very fast and shaking violently as the truck bounced on the washboard dirt road. I distinctly remember that this thing was only getting closer as my brother cried "it's coming up on your side!" I remember being as scared as hell and thinking that I didn't want to die. At the moment that I thought would be our last. I remember speeding around a bend in the road and seeing a car coming towards us in the opposite direction. At that moment I felt instant relief and felt that whatever was following us was gone.
Shaken up but alive, we made it to grandma's house wondering what the hell had just happened. We ran inside not looking back, hoping that whatever was chasing us had not followed us home. As we told my grandma about our experience she didn't seem too surprised, which surprised us. She continued by repeating stories that we had already heard at one point or another about black magic, witches, and something that the Navajos call Yee Nadlooshii or Skinwalkers. Needless to say, I didn't even want to look out any of the windows at all the rest of that night. As a matter of fact, I never drove on the reservation at night until I was 21 years old.
Without going too deep into explanation, I'll just say that these Skin-walkers are evil men and spirits that use black magic for evil doing. I tell you that as farfetched as it may sound, they are real! I believe that if God and his greatness are real, the devil is equally as real and also has his ways of showing himself.
This may not sound very scary to some readers and that may be due to my lack of writing skills. But what happened that evening really did happen and scared the living crap out of me. I invite anybody to visit this part of Arizona if you have any doubt or want huge scare. I promise you that you won't be disappointed.
I hope that you enjoyed my story and I look forward to sharing other experiences soon. - Tracker337

Between Crownpoint, New Mexico and Borrego Pass on Navajo Tribal Road 48. I am a non-Native American who has lived and worked on the Navajo Indian Reservation as a school teacher on several different occasions. The most recent gig was from November, 1997 to June, 2000. As a life-long resident of New Mexico, I have driven hundreds of thousands of miles, with tens of thousands of those miles at night. I consider myself a very experienced night time driver, where I have seen just about every type of mammal and animal, both wild and domestic, that New Mexico has. I've seen deer, elk, cattle, horses, sheep, dogs, cats, rabbits, mountain lion, badgers, skunks, porcupines, etc., while driving at night. I recognized them all.
When I first started working at Borrego Pass School in 1997, I was making a home visit to one of my students. His name was Billy (named changed). Billy was a very intelligent boy, with a higher than average I.Q. He told me on that visit that their neighbor (a mile away) was a "skinwalker". I scoffed at Billy and said something like, "There is no such thing." But Billy insisted, saying that the neighbor changed into an animal and came to their house and looked into the windows. This was all very interesting to me, but I pretty much forgot about what he said.
Around 1998, I started teaching night classes at Dine College in Crownpoint. Teaching astronomy, class would end around 10:00 p.m., and I would head back home to Borrego Pass, 18 miles to the east. One night after class, about 10:15 p.m., sometime in the spring (April or May) of 2000, I was driving my 1998 Ford Escort on Navajo Tribal Road 48. I drove about 50 mph because of the possibility of horses and livestock in the roadway. I always noted Billy's house off the road at about the halfway point to my home. It was one of my "waypoints".
It was about this time that suddenly something weird passed from right to left in front of my car's headlights. This was the strangest creature or object I've ever encountered on the road. It was a large, shapeless hole that did not reflect any light whatsoever. My car's headlight's simply disappeared and were swallowed into the darkness of this mass. I saw no definite shape, no legs, no head, no eyes -- just a shapeless black hole. I have never seen anything thing quite like it, before or since, but whatever it was, gave me the creeps.
I remember getting scared and speeding up. I pushed the car's speed up to 65 mph and got to my little duplex at Borrego Pass ASAP. I got into the apartment as quickly and locked the door behind me. I then sat in the living room, trying to figure out what I saw.
The next day, I told one of my Navajo friends what I saw. His jaw dropped. He immediately said it was a skinwalker, but I had nothing to worry about since they can't harm white men. Still, it was weird. I have told this story to several Navajos and they have all pretty much come to the same conclusion that it was a skinwalker. Weird stuff, for sure. A logical explanation says it was a black dog or black bear, but it's more fun to think of it as a skinwalker.
This happened one night, but not the same night as my skinwalker encounter: One night, when driving back from Gallup, New Mexico, I was being tailgated by a Ford Bronco (the old original type) that was driving without headlights. I wrote this off as a guy using me as his lights since his didn't work...or he was drunk...or both. I sped up as fast as I could to shake him. I don't remember what happened, but obviously he did not follow me back to Borrego. - MM (paranormal.about.com)
I received the following email from Mike on Saturday. He describes a recent encounter with an unknown creature in an undisclosed area near Cheboygan, Michigan (northern Michigan):
Artwork by Linda S. Godfrey, reprinted with permission
Hey, I'm Mike from the Cheboygan, MI area. This is true what I am about to describe. On November 24, 2010 me and two of my friends went out at night around 12 am. We were not hunting but had weapons. We were looking for a spot to set up our blinds for the muzzleloading season when we crossed from a field with tons of deer beddings. We came into another field with none whatsoever. We continued through this field and came across some kind of game trail. We decided to venture down this trail into the woods.
We got maybe 300 yards back in it and started hearing heavy breathing and snapping sounds in the thick brush to our right. We thought maybe coyotes but we got to a corner and were stopped in our track. In front of us, maybe 60 yards away, was something blacker than the woods standing on two feet and stood between 6'8" and 7'4". We slowly turned away and back tracked. Before we got to the field the same thing was in front of us again. We turned around for a second and then turned back...it was gone.
When we got into the field we noticed there were four or more of these creatures, one on each corner of the field just standing there. We saw one move halfway behind a tree. At this point we were freaking out. We made our way through the field and got to the edge and there was one standing directly in the middle of the trail entering the woods. We hauled butt back home and the whole way we felt like we were being watched and stalked.
We have been out every night since then. We have learned do not use lights because it comes closer than 60 yards. The closest it has been to me was maybe 25 yards and was moving closer. At that point I shot at it. There were five total that we saw the fist night and after I shot at one. We went out last night and there were only four and they seemed more aggressive. In the field, it seems they tried herding us into a corner.
You can believe this or not, but I am in the Michigan National Guard and I put what I saw on my warrior ethos and army values.

Back in July 2009, I received the following emails in reference to at least 2 sightings of a supposed 'Dogman' in Baraga County, Upper Peninsula, Michigan. I contacted the witness who seemed very truthful and credible:
Last fall, my son and I were driving on US-41/M-28 towards Three Lakes in Michigan's Upper Peninsula (where I live). The beast ran across the highway near Tioga Creek. I had not heard of this before reading Phantoms and Monsters, but this is exactly what we saw. We are familiar with all animals living here. Moose regularly cross in front of drivers, so we watch the sides of the roads carefully. We were very puzzled and thought it might be some mutant wolf and could not figure out what we witnessed. It ran fairly fast about 50 feet in front of our truck. It was so strange because the front of it was much higher up than the back, larger than a wolf. Very strange to see it on your website. NOTE: I contacted the witness and asked for any further detail of the sighting. This is what I received:
It did not look exactly like the video or drawings I saw, but VERY close. The side view shape of the animal was almost like an ape shape, with the front legs longer than the back legs which made it run funny. It ran like a bear runs, with the exception of the back legs being shorter if you can picture that. The front, from the angle I saw, looked like it must of had a wide chest. The head appeared wolf-like, but it definitely was NOT a wolf. The color was brown and black mixed. The hair seemed med-long, like a wolf, and I remember thinking it might of had mange, must of had patches of hair missing.
I was telling my son, who is 13, about what I had found on your site and asked him what he remembered. He gave the same description, how very strange and out of place it was. He said that this spring he saw the same type of thing on a logging road near our house (I do remember him telling me that at that time) and it was the same thing. He was riding his dirt bike (we live in an extremely remote area) and it ran across the trail. I know where he is talking about because I pick berries there and do get a weird feeling like something is watching me. A neighbor told me that area is "Bigfoot Central", which I did not know or believe. But after doing further research today, there are a lot of reports of strange creatures in this area that go back many, many years.
Who knows what it is, but as long as it's not hurting anything, I hope it is left alone. I am very familiar with the wildlife. I do hunt and know my tracks. I have not seen any strange tracks, but now will really keep my eyes open. Please keep me informed if you get any other reports from my area. Rhonda

In April 2009, I also read about an account in Wisconsin, but with a different twist:
My girlfriend and I went out to feed deer for the hunting opener on Nov. 22, 2008. We were in the Chequamegon National Forest in northern Wisconsin. It was November 21, 2008 and the time was 12:10 AM, it was totally dark out and light snow was falling with an accumulation of about 1 inch covering the roads. The Temperature was 11*F and the wind was blowing from the northwest with a wind chill of 0*F. We made a U-turn to the left onto an unfinished ATV trail in one of our 4X4 Pickups heading towards last years feed pile.
I got to the bottom of the hill and backed in and parked. I got out my pistol and loaded it, I then put it in my holster, I grabbed my headlight with 3 LED bulbs and secured it on my head, I handed her a shaker LED flashlight and proceeded to the back of my truck where I had a 5 gallon bucket with just under 2 gallons of corn and 3 apples in it strapped down with 2 of my ATV straps. I put the tailgate down, unstrapped the bucket and put the tailgate up. I walked around my side and then in front of the truck to her passenger side as she was putting mittens on. We both started to walk together, her just behind and to my right side when we both noticed a fresh set of tracks in the snow heading down wind of us in the same direction we where walking.
At first it was not the size that caught my attention, it was "WHAT IN GOD'S CREATION MADE THESE TRACKS" immediately my skinned crawled as I looked around with my head to see if what we just had come up on was in sight. I glanced back down in disbelief at the tracks. I was in a slight stage of shock as I looked at her she looked at me and we both looked down at 4 well-formed footprints of some kind of scary tracks that either of us had ever seen before. I sized my shoe beside one of the tracks and realized it was about 3 inches longer than my shoe which measures 12 inches heel to toe, and about 1 inch wider than my shoe which measures 4 inches at it's widest width. Whatever we witnessed the foot prints of has 2 pointed talons on the end of it's foot that are isometrically the same with a rectangle shaped heel. The talons joined on the outside and at the same length in between the talons on each foot. They are 15 inches long and 5 inches wide with 64-inch strides. I have a 36-inch stride at 5'10" tall to give an idea of the possible size of this creature, running or not we do not know.
I believe we just missed seeing what caused these tracks and what ever made the tracks was still in the area and possibly watching us. My girl told me to load my pistol and keep it out, I did not argue. At first she wanted to leave right away but the sheer adrenaline and interest of what caused the tracks I believe is what kept us there. I said "okay let's get out of here" but again, interest kept us there looking at the tracks. My fear slightly subsided enough to think about the upcoming deer opener and decided I have the pistol and we will be okay. I started to walk the same way the tracks went up a hill on the trail when I stopped and looked back at her while she was still staring down at the prints. I said "come on lets get this over with" she caught up to me as we walked together, she said to me, "if this thing gets a hold of me put a bullet in my head" I thought about that as we kept walking. We went deep into the woods down a steep hill where I new the feed pile was from last year. We got to where I wanted the pile to be, I took the lid off the bucket and dumped the corn and apples out and stepped on the apples, I snapped the lid back on the bucket and said "let's go" We started to climb the hill when I realized we where off track and had to walk left to reach the trail to get back to the truck. I started to think that this was the scariest thing I have ever encountered and felt panic over coming me. I new where I was and finally we got back on the trail and walked down to where we could see the tracks of the creature again. We both stared at them for about 5 minutes. When we got back to the truck just 20 yards from the prints, she got in and closed her door. I went behind the truck, opened the tailgate and re strapped the bucket down and closed the tailgate. I got to my side of the truck and took the clip out of my gun and got in. I threw my head light off my head as we drove away thinking and then I said, "I am not coming back here" and she agreed. We where both scared and could not believe what just happened.
It was a month earlier and 1.1 miles walking through the woods from where we witnessed the tracks that a different friend and I where camping. I went to bed early and fell into a deep sleep. I woke up to the sound of my friend walking behind the tent and my first reply was "what are you doing back there?" I woke up a little more and realized my friend was sleeping, breathing kind of loud next to me. I sat up against my gear and grabbed my pistol and flashlight and sat there cold and scared in the dark. I woke my friend up and told him what I could hear and he said, "Ah it was probably a deer or something" The temperature was around 26*F. I looked out the flaps of the tent and could see the fire had died down and it was dark out there. I stood up and told my friend that I was going to the truck to warm up and get some sleep. I asked him if he wanted me to leave the pistol and he said, "no I'll be alright". I left the tent and walked to my truck about 80 yards away and started it up to get warm. I turned my lights on a few different times to see if what had walked by the tent was in sight. I did not see anything; I turned my truck off and fell asleep.
Whatever walked by the tent was bipedal and made 2 steps into my sound range and out again. I did not hear any other noise from what ever walked by. I looked around the next morning for footprints but leaves covered the ground and I did not detect anything. A little more than 2 years earlier. It was summer and I was at this same location riding my ATV alone, I stopped and got off walking down to a near by lake and was looking at the water and how clear it is when I could hear up on the hill above the camp ground we had stayed at a huge tree snap and hit the ground with a big thump as branches snapped off it and other trees as it fell. I got back to my ATV quickly at the time thinking a bear or buck was up there and I was not sticking around to find out. 2 months later that summer I returned to this spot again riding my ATV, I shut off the wheeler and stood around close by thinking about the last time I was there I was scared off by something. I was there about 5 minutes when all of a sudden I could hear branches snapping off of trees as what ever was breaking branches was coming down the hill closer to where I was. I got on my wheeler never to return until my friend and I camped there a little over 2 years later in October. My first 2 experiences with this creature while I was alone made me think it was possibly a bear or a buck deer, trouble with this theory is that I have come up on bear a dozen or so times and every time, the bear is running as fast as it can in another direction and what ever was making the tree sounds was not running any where. A deer also runs away at the first presence of a human. Now that we witnessed these creatures’ footprints I put the puzzle pieces together and realize that this creature is living in this area and it has probably been there for a long, long, long time. I have learned it means us no harm (yet). It only makes a sound when I am alone (tree breaking). It is always down wind of me (us). It is out in the day and or night. It can see in the dark. It uses the wind to it's advantage every chance it gets. It can hear well. It can smell good. It waits until we are vulnerable to approach us when 2 of us are together. I could possibly have smelled it and did not know what I smelled. I (we) have put 4,000 miles in this forest on my Grizzly ATV through deep desolate, thick wooded, swamp, lake areas and have now proved to ourselves that this undocumented at this time creature is in fact out there.
I know where this creature is living and plan on an expedition to prove its existence. I want to document this creature because I feel everyone that enters the forest has a right to know it is there and for other various reasons. I am open to any and all that would like to comment or ask questions in discussing my encounters with this creature(s).
NOTE: Approximately a year ago, the 'Michigan Dogman' film was proven to be a hoax but there have been several sightings of this cryptid nonetheless. Is this a werewolf like species? A Bigfoot or Sasquatch? Something completely different perhaps? What are your thoughts? Lon
