NOTE: the map above indicates UFO reports and sightings in Maryland since 11/1/2010 (click image to enlarge). There have been multiple 'triangle shaped' UFO sightings throughout Maryland and Virginia over the past two years. Conventional thought is that these are unknown military craft.
MUFON CMS - This report is being filed by the Maryland Mufon State Director on behalf of a witness and a reporter that wish to remain anonymous. This a report of a "first-hand" report.
On December 30, 2010, an individual traveling north on Rt 109 north of Poolsville, MD., passed the curve north of the Jerusalem Road intersection and encountered a stopped vehicle in the road ahead of him.
He looked left (west) and saw the object [a dark "square" (diamond?), approximately 50 yards on a side, fixed white lights on all four corners, about 75 yards west of the road over a farm field, about 1000 feet lower than normal approach altitude into Dulles International Airport, moving such that a corner was the forward point) moving slowly (direction not given). He initially thought it was a helicopter.
He turned off the car radio, opened the window to listen, and heard nothing. Two vehicles traveling southbound also saw the object and stopped. The weather that evening was mostly clear with some high clouds.

NOTE: 1/5/11 - from what I can gather, the video above was shot not far from the Poolsville location in MUFON Case #27253. 1/4/11 - video below was captured in Thurmont, MD 50 mile north of Poolesville. As well, there were reports of similar lights in the Frederick, MD area the past few days...this location is in the middle of this corridor.

UPDATE - New MUFON CMS - 1/5/11 - (unedited): While walking my dogs I noticed a star MOVING! I watched closely as it was not a plane on any of the trails they usually followed and I have never seen anything move like this before.
It didn't seem to be following any particular course as it moved in sharp rapid arcs and very fast yet short zips for lack of a better description.
It always seemed to remain fairly close to the same position or if it moved very far at all, it would work its way back to near its starting point. It also would move in short swings to and fro and seemed to receed downward or back to its begining place after it would move seemingly upward. After watching it for some minutes I noticed a second light which seemed to be sparking to life near the first or main light. This second light never attained the same brightness as the first and "fizzeled out"
shortly after showing up. Shortly there after, the main light seemed to also "fizzel out" and disappeared.
My wife was with me for the last 5 minutes of this observation and saw the same thing I saw as it was happening.
I was in my yard near Taneytown, MD.
The light was at approx. 15-20 degrees elevation to my WNW just south of the lights of Ski Liberty above the mountain crest.
It never traveled more than approx. 1.5 to 2 degrees from where I first saw it but it moved in ways I cannot explain.
I will be watching for it again tonite 1/6/11 after dark.
